EV 11.0 Upgrade on DR

Saswata_B

We are planning to upgrade our EV infrastructure from 10.0 to 11.0. The environment is as follows :-

2 EV 10.0 physical servers (1Prod + 1 DR) both are in same EV site.

2 SQL 2008 servers (1Prod + 1 DR) configured with DB mirroring.

DR EV server does not have any Archiving Task or Vault Store DB hosted. Its simply a passive DR node we use Building blocks to perform a failover to DR.

My question is about upgrading the DR EV server. Is installing the EV binaries enough or we need to run the EV 11.0 Database upgrader tool on the DR server as well? Does the EV services on DR needs to be started to post binary installation to complete the upgrade.

Let me know if you need any further information about the environment.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
if you upgraded your prod server, and have run the evdatabaseupgrader from there, you only need to install the binaries on the dr server. the upgrader.exe file upgrades the databases, and that only needs to be done once.

Thanks GertjanA that is precisely what I thought. I assume the DB mirroring from prod to DR will take care of upgrading DR mirrored copy of the database.

You are correct in that assumption, as long as the mirror is up to date.  The only time the DR server will access the mirror is when you change the Primary SQL alias to point at the mirror.
