Hello,

I'm looking for documentation for our next project.

We have 4 enterprise vault server in version 11.0.1 CHF5, 1 Server with Storage service, 3 Index Server (Windows Server 2008 R2) and using an SQL Server 2008 R2.

I like to create a new infrastructure 4 server, 2 Storage and 2 Index Server in windows server 2019, use SQL database in SQL 2019.

After the new servers is installed and ready archive from Exchange how do I move the old archive? Can I use this instruction Enterprise Vault Move Archive Feature Overview

Is this a supported upgrade scenario?

So move archive doesn't move the EV settings, only the archive.  The supported upgrade path is here: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100023744. You would need to do an in-place upgrade to EV 12.  Once on EV 12 you can use the EV Server Settings Migration Wizard:  https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/article.100037842

Hi Tony,

thanks for your answer, the consultant from the old company that had our support contract, suggest this approach, the clear old garbage in the database and in the fileserver (we have 36 attached lun).

So if I use this method what would I lose?

- All the data in the Reporting Service? (does the archive data became the date of the move?)
- Archive permission? I believe that will be resolved with enabled the mailbox in the new server.
- ...

Let's begin again and prepare the upgrade to EV12, an in-place upgrade, move to a new server, in-place upgrade to EV14.

It's going to be a fun year Exchange upgrade from 2010 to 2016 to 2019 and an EV upgrade

Thanks again Tony, I a little bit lost because I don't have support until I move to EV12, and this is the only EV Server I administrate.

António

How much data are you looking to have to move?  If it is above a few TB you should really consider a migration partner.  That would allow you to set up the new EV site and migrate directly to it.  There a few good vendors out there, https://www.cloudficient.com, along with TransVault and Archive Shuttle by Quest are some good options.

Tony,
We are going to move 14Tb, 10k mailbox archive. I'll take that suggestion to the client and see what he says.
