Hi All,
Currently I'm facing a weird behavior when I recall file archives back to the file server. We are trying to restore all the archives before migration to the new File server.
We use a copying program (which function like Robocopy) to copy the file from old file server to new file server. If the file is an archive, it will be recall and then copy over to the new file server. But it will come to a time when a file recall will freeze for 1-20min before it will be recalled.
I've check the EV server and the CPU resource and RAM utilization is fine. So I got no idea why it will freeze from time to time. Some files that are recalled are not very large. They are just some small word doc. This make the whole migration very slow as there are alot of files to be recalled.
I was wondering if there is a "cooling period" whereby EV will process archives till a limit and then stop for awhile before continuing?
From eventlog there is nothing unusual on both file server and EV server.

Running the backup or any type of file scanning program that does not honor the file system offline attributes, which could recalls of all items marked as placeholder.
You need to Edit ExcludedExes Registry and remove the BackupProgram.exe (BackupExec exe from this registry). So it will recall the placeholder at the time of backup run.
ExcludedExes : It is used to exclude applications from recalling Enterprise Vault (EV) File System Archiving (FSA) placeholder files during a backup or scan.

This ExcludedExes Registry is present on the File Server that is running Placeholder Service. You need to make change on File Server.

As far as the question goes, I think he *wants* to have the files recalled, and not copy the placeholders.
