EV 8.0 - FSAUtility

Hello All,

A small query in relation to FSAUtility.exe in EV 8.0

Due to some reason, we have to remove EV from the existing server. There's about 34GB of Data that has been archived.

So before we could decommission this, we have to restore the Files to the file server. Hence, I ran the FSAUtility.exe first in report mode (with -r switch) and now in the normal mode (without -r switch).

When I ran the command (FSAUtility -t -s \\gfhexmail1 -D 05-16-2009 -r) in report mode it created a log file stating the following result: -
------------------------------

FSA Utility Report
------------------

File Server - \\Gfhexmail1.gfhouse.com

Lists of Files to be Restored.
Restore Files Completed.
------------------------------

Then I ran the utility again (FSAUtility -t -s \\gfhexmail1 -D 05-16-2009) in normal mode and it created an XML file that reads as below: -
------------------------------

Restore files
Source:\\gfhexmail1.gfhouse.com

Destination:\\gfhexmail1.gfhouse.com

Time:5/27/2009 3:11:01 PM

Item Status

------------------------------

1.  Is there a way to check how many files have been restored till yet and when will this activity be over?  HOW ?

2.  Also, I want to know is there are way to link an Archive to the new Enterprise Vault Server? HOW?

Please provide a detailed answer.

Regards,

GauravAditya

The issue was that the Storage service crashed and hence no report on the above...

Now that we have resolved that issue, the command does work fine...

Thanks anyways,

Just an update

All we get is this in the command prompt: -
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault>FSAUtility -t -s \\gfhexmail1 -D 05-16-2009

FSA Data Mover Utility.
Symantec Enterprise Vault.
Copyright (c) 2008. Symantec Corporation.

Restore files
Folder : \\gfhexmail1.gfhouse.com
Generating file list for processing...
Total restore job dispatch... 100%
Note: File restore operation has been started.
XML Log file generated.
Done.

C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault>
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please advise.

What are you trying to do?
Restore all files back to the fileserver?

Then just leave out the -D 05-16-2009, because this only restores the files which have been ARCHIVED after 05-16-2009.

From the Utilities.pdf:

The following command restores all the files that were archived after
September 26 2006 on the entire file server.
FSAUtility -t -s \\myserver -D 09-26-2006

Is this what you are trying to do?

Good Evening Bossy,

You are asolutely right. We set the date as per the example given in the Technical Help provided in the software and moreover, we started archiving just 2-3 days back. So, i guess indirectly we are restoring everything.
