I am familiar with NetBackup and not EV. Going throught the motions to test restore of a database, Directory DB for example though all exhibit the same behaviour, contents pane shows Full and Differential backups on various days, and all of them show 0 (zero) bytes. Perhaps this is normal (?) but it certainly is not comforting to think all of our successful backups have 0 bytes to restore.

Trying to find my post on other forum where someone posted screenshot showing 0 byte behaviour so it seems like this is "normal"
Ah, here it is: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/bar-shows-0-bytes-db-restore#comment-7614171

definitely definitely not normal
i think a blank database without contents but just table structure, sp's, indexes and keys is 4mb alone

Looking at SQL Studio (mind you I don't know anything about that product either) and it shows database and log backups are in fact occuring though it doesn't show any size that I can find. Puzzling.

it looks like NBU is either in the middle of restoring or it's stuck at the restoring stage or it had failed......i have seen similar issue with exchange database restoring....also can you confirm that all the EV database were succesfully backed up etc.?
Try throw the same question at the NBU forum and see what you get back...the guys on there are pretty good and active....

If you have any of the ERRORLOG logs from SQL, they will show when files were backed up, if it was successful and what is going on during the restore. Post one, if you like/can and we can have a look for you.
SQL Server Management Studio > log on to database instance > Management > SQL Server Logs > double click on one of the logs (current etc) and export it to a file

Jeff

btw the first thing that should happen on a restore is that the database is sized to the correct size on disk. Think of SQL files more like a virtual disk container that needs to be filled with data.
