Hi all,
It's the first time I use FSA so I try to play with it. I want to create a volume rule based on quota that start to archive files when my disk is 90% full and stop archiving when reaches 80% full. So I have added my partition (Volume F$ under my file server) and create a volume policy with:
- Enable quota: Start at 90% and stop at 80%
- create an archiving rule with "Archive" "File is on of All Files" (basically everything)
- Create shortcut immediately
When I run my archiving task it begins only if my F$ is full at 90% BUT when archiving starts it archives everything and don't stop at 80%... so my disk on my file server is fully archived at the end and empty...
OS are all Windows 2008 R2 SP1.
Did I miss something to correctly stop at 80%?
The configuration of the vault store is "Remove safety copies Immediatly after archive".
Thanks for your help.
Renaud

Agreed with John, I have never personally used or seen used the Quota for the file server.
I think you have mis-configured the policy. You set the Quota but then created an archive rule to archive everything so EV obeyed the archive rule and did its thing. You can use rules with the Quota set, but you should make them more specific. see this Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO57668
I would recommend this for your reading pleasure if you haven't seen it already.

Nobody successfully achieve this kind of archiving? Quota seems not so easy to work.
Thanks.

To tell you the truth, in 6 years of using and supporting EV, I have never seen anyone use the Quota option.
You havent by any chance also setup a folder rule and it's using that instead?
Sounds like you could have a bug, I take it it's easy to reproduce, so would suggest logging a case with Symantec.

I agree with john. sounds like a bug and I would log a case with support. I don't think EV is checking the current disk size as it archives the items. Based on the statement below in "Help", it seems EV checks the limit after process all items that meet the archiving criteria???
"If no more files meet the archiving criteria defined in the rules, Enterprise Vault stops archiving before this limit is reached."
