EV Upgrade with no Vault Store partition

Guys,

Need an opinion on this:

Setup:

  • Upgrading a client going from 9.0.4 to 11.0.1 in 2 stages.First stage is 10.0.4.

  • Current system is ev 9.0.4 on win 2003.  Migrating to 2012 server using EV migrate tool.

  • Sql and indexes available to new ev server

  • Vault Store partition will not be available to the new server right away.It could take 6 weeks to copy completely.

Question:

  • Do you think I can do the upgrade successfully without the actual VS partiion being available to the new server?  In 10.0.4 starting the storage service upgrades the vault store db itself.  I don’t know though if it needs also the VS partition, if it writes or updates anything there.

Thanks,

Fremont

As long as the root path and xml exists you can start it, however it's a really really bad idea -- If anything happens you may not get much support from symc

Yes the vault store partition is required (Location should be accessible) else storage service will fail.
