Hi,
Our current setup of EV10 on Windows 2008 R2 allows us to access Vaulted emails via Outlook and OWA, only when connected to the work network, either by LAN/WAN or VPN.
However, we will soon be looking to add many Outlook clients from sites that will not have a direct network connection. Outlook will work OK via HTTPS traffic, but then that would mean Vault currently wont.
Is it possible to set Vault up to work like this, is it recommended and what can I read up on to see how to do it?
I am suprised that Vault does not work via OWA when external from the network as I thought that would effectively proxy the the Exchange servers and existing OWA, but it does not.
Any info you have would be great.
Thanks - James

yes it's doable and you'll need some sort of reverse proxy. since you also mentioned outlook anywhere, maybe this will help too:

I'm not sure why you think OWA won't work on the external network, although it may need some configuration. Have you seen this document?

you need to add a rule to your TMG or whatever you use to publish OWA externally so it can talk to your EV server.

you might also start planning for IMAP access. it has been introduced in EV11 and presents a whole new world of opportunity for access across any device and doesn't require any client addins

Thanks Andrew B, I will have a look through this and see what I need to do. Is this doable without TMG?
Andrew G, "I'm not sure why you think OWA won't work on the external network", well, the reason is that our one does not. The behaviour we have, I explained in the first post. It works on the LAN but not over the internet at the moment.
Thanks - James
