Hi!
Could you please tell me how is backup working for EV 8. I used prebackup script with argument
regedit /s c:\readonly.reg
As I understand after that I do not have ability to archive email. I ran script and tried to archive it manually and it was archived.
Is it actual archive or i missing something
Thank you

If you did not stop and restart the services the registry keys don't take effect.
With EV 8 you do not need the read only registry entries.
Please refer to this doc on backing up EV 8:

Thank you , Tony!
I did stop and start services when ran script, but from your reply EV 8 does not use registry it is Set back mode and clear back mode options and it can be run as Task Schedule?

Sorry for another question.
I ran task "powershell -psconsolefile "C:\Program Files\Enterprise
Vault\EVShell.psc1" -command "& {set-vaultstorebackupmode -name
'name of Vault Store Group' -evservername "name of EV server" -evobjecttype
vaultstoregroup}"
From event viewer it was ran, but I still can archive email. Is it OK?
And how I can check if it set backup mode from Admin console?
Thank you

are you sure the mail is being archived? Can you see in the the search page or archive explorer?
It the Admin console it should denote the vault store is in backup mode.

Hi, Tony!
My apology I am new in this product. I can not use archive explorer or search adds on, but I thought you even can not archive it ( when I click archive shortcut was created).
I looked in Admin console on Store Group level and saw 2 set state. I thought if it in SEt mode only Clear will be there.
Could you please tell me how can be sure that all running in set mode and can I use same Shell command to put Index in Set mode ( do I have to create script for every Index location like 1, 2, 3 ....)
Thank you

For Indexes, you can confirm if it is in backup mode by checking the IndexRootPathEntry table in the Directory DB. The BackupMode column will show True when in backup mode.
Probably easier by the Event log though.
In the VAC, when you highlite the VS group there is a column in the right pane for backup mode, but it needs refreshed after the script is run.
It does not show when highliting an individual VS though.
