EV client 9.0.2 with EV server 9.0.3

Hi,

I'm planning upgrade my existing EV 9.0.2 to 9.0.3, all of our users currently using outlook 2010 with EV plug-in 9.0.2. Is the EV server support lower version client connection (including both outlook plug-in and owa extension) ?
Thanks and welcome for any comments.

It's because the client is connected using RPC over https (Outlook Anywhere) and that's what youve configured in yor desktop policy Either remove that URL from the policy, or fix it on the exchange servers or put outlook out of outlook anywhere That RPC over https URL you have is used for exchange 2003 only, 2007 and 2010 seek the /EnterpriseVault virtual directory to be published directly and no longer uses the Enterprisevaultproxy virtual dir

Yup, you won't need to upgrade the client or OWA and both should work fine however it's always recommended just to take advantage of the latest fixes, but you don't need to delay your upgrade You could even use the EV10 clients if you want as that will still work with ev9 etc Always check the compatibility guides as well, you can find the links at the top in these forums or linked In the Online section of the vault admin console

Close Outlook
Run evclientreset.exe
Open Outlook and check if EV plugin is working fine.

If not, post exact error and/or client log.

Http error when you press the EV tab on Outlook 2010?! You have the outlook 2010 preview client by the sound of it, remember that you have to replace he desktop web.dll in the webapp/bin directory on the EV server

Thanks you guys.

I did run evclientreset.exe before and after install the ev client 9.0.3, but no luck. It will show the http error when click and function under EV tab. The http error show as below:

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

This is really important but you're talking about Outlook 2010 and not OWA 2010 And if outlook, you installed the 9 SP3 HTTP client and not the DCOM client? Did you at any point have the EV 10.0.1 Preview Client installed on the machine for outlook 2010? As that is the only way you could have ever gotten an Enterprise Vault tab as effort then the HTTP client just didn't have that functionality

Yes, I'm testing EV 9.0.3 Outlook Plug-in Http for my outlook 2010. I hv not EV 10.0.1 Preview Client installed.

Actually, I want to make sure that everythings fine after EV server upgraded to 9.0.3. Just wonder if the server can't working with newer client.

The error screen as below:

Ah ok, are you hitting archive explorer or just simply pressing the ribbon? Either uninstall and reinstall the client or get us a client trace and we'll see what page it's pulling

If you can check on IIS manager of EV server - EVAnon webdirectory under default web site - Properties - Can you make sure it is pointing to right location.

Sometimes after installation i find an extra "\" in location which causes Error 404. So just making sure.

In outlook, press the enterprise vault tab, hold CTRL-SHIFT and click one of the EV Icons and then select full logging, press ok and it will ask you to restart outlook, once restarted, press the AE button and then hold CTRL-SHIFT and click an EV icon again then hit open log Save the txt file and attach it here So it's one of very few things that would cause this Either the /EnterpriseVault/ virtual directory no longer exists or the file you are requesting (archiveExplorerUI.asp) doesn't exist in the ev's \webapp directory OR the client is pointing or attempting to open at an incorrect server OR (very unlikely) that URLScan is blocking the asp page which generates a 404 or the BET Framework is disabled but that should generate a 500 error

Thanks AKL, there is no extra "\" in webdirector. The EV server should work fine as cthere is no problem with client 9.0.2.

JesusWept2: Attached is the client trace for your reference. Thanks

It is trying to connect over the following url and failing.

https://evserver1.kimengittest.local/EnterpriseVault

Is that url correct?  Can you open Internet Explorer and browse to that url?

I found that the different ver of EV client is connecting with different URL. Below is the URL for each EV client connect to.

EV Client 9.0.2

Archive Explorer URL:https://evserver1.kimengittest.local/EnterpriseVault/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp?server=EXCH-M1&mbx=SMTP:kimengit@kimengittest.com&outlook=14

EV client 9.0.3

Archive Explorer URL:https://owa.kimengittest.local/enterprisevaultproxy/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp?server=EXCH-M1&mbx=SMTP:kimengit@kimengittest.com&outlook=14
