EV --> Upgrade & Migrate Question

Steve_Bally
Level 4

All,

We have a scenario where we had to migrate to Exchange 2010 and EV is still on the Exchange 2003 server, most users are already migrated to the new server, and we need to keep the EV archives in a state where they can be accessed from the 2010 server, these are the steps that I plan to take, I would like to confirm that I am not missing anything:

Please keep in mind this was an emergency migration to Exchange 2010(long story), so I understand that the steps are not correct, I just need to get the mailboxes and the archives sync'd up for access only, no new archiving tasks will take place.

Currently on EV 2007 no Service Pack

Upgrade Current EV environment to 8.0.5

Add the rights for enterprise vault service Account (VSA) to the 2010 Exchange CAS Server, via Poweshell script

Upgrade the 8.0.5 Version to 9.0.2

Add the new Exchange Server into the EV Site (There will be no archiving taking place in this environment)

Perform a sync of the accounts that are currently hosted inthe 2010 environment

Questions that do come to mind are:

When to migrate the VSA account and service mailbox to the new server?

Do I need to install the forms on the 2010 Exchange Server?

What other issues will we run into?

Any help would be appreciated.

Steve

When to migrate the VSA account and service mailbox to the new server? = You can migrate the VSA anytime but definitely before you want to archive from Exch 2010

Do I need to install the forms on the 2010 Exchange Server? = No, you do not have to deploy forms if you choose to Deploy Forms Locally in the Desktop policy.  The forms will be deployed to the Personal Forms Library by the client.  That is best practice. What other issues will we run into?  = Make sure to read the Whitepaper, it should help you quite a bit.
