EV6: SP3 Restoring all archived files from a single users personal share.

   Hi Folks,

We have a user who needs to get all archived files (we archive all office docs, text files etc) restored permanently as they are moving to a Citrix environment which we have not as of yet enabled for file archiving. An archive point has been created at the root of their share e.g.

\\fileclusternode\\P$\Users_P\UserShare.

Is there any way of recalling all files from under this archive point? We do not want to recall all files on the server that have been archived, just this subset. What is the quickest and easiest method of doing so?

Any help appreciated.

Regards,

David

David,

Firstly make sure that BypassRecallLimitsForAdmins = 1

HKLM\Software\KVS\Enterprie Vault\ FSA\PlaceholderService

Logon to the Server as an Administrator
"
Then do a search on the folder for *, select advanced search options, and select "Tape Search".

This will do a file open request on all files within the folder and recall them all.  It is not going to be super quick, but the best you have with version 6 SP*

Hi Rob,

Cheers for the prompt reply. I logged onto the book as admin, selected the users share under search options, * to search for all files, selected search sub-folders, and then clicked search tape backup. Clicked search and the results were returned almost instantly. However files are still displayed as being archived. So this didn't appear to work. The regkey was already set in place. Please note that we archive to a Centera, if this makes any difference. Please excuse my apparent lack of knowledge, got thrown from being a pure SAN and AIX head to this archiving under windows malarky!

Cheers again,

David

David,

Sorry, forgot about RevertItemsToPlaceholders this needs to be set to 0 for the recall, you will need to restart the placeholder service for this to take effect.

once recalled, you need to remove the Archive point, and then change the key back.
