I've just reattached some mailboxes that were deleted in Exchange. I've then tried to enable the mailboxes for archiving and am receiving the following error:
Error: The MAPI error MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER (0x8004011D) occurred when opening the mailbox message store during a synchronisation. This generally occurs when the mailbox has been deleted. (0xc0040ce6)
Is there anything I can do to get around this?
Version 10.0.4.

If you ExchangeMailboxState is 0 = new, 1 = enabled, 2 = disabled, 3 = relinked.
There can be issue with MAPI and you may refer the following technote

What version of Outlook you have on the EV server ?

I tried this, however this seems to refer to archives, rather than the situation I have. Which is that there was a user that was mail disabled in Exchange. I then attached the mailbox back to the user and tried to enable for archiving.

Have you run provisioning? Are the users mailboxes in the provisioning report? If they are, can you (in the EV Console) rightclick Exchange, click policy assigned to mailbox, enter user name. Does he show?
You might have to delete the row from the ExchangeMailboxEntry table in the directory database, then rerun provisioning, then enable

So the AD account is still the same or have you created a different account ?
Could let us know what is the Exchange Mailbox State ? You can find this in the Exchangemailbox Entry Table.
Also let us know the Archiving State ?

Thanks for the help so far.
I have run provisioning and the users appear when trying to enable their mailboxes. It's when I try to enable them that they fail.
These users have never had an archive before.
They are the same AD account as were originally connected to the mailboxes.
I tried deleting the row in ExchangeMailboxEntry and rerunning provisioing and I get the same error when trying to enable.
ExchangeMailboxState is 0 for two of them and 2 for one of them.

Thanks for all the help. Turns out this issue was due to not having Collaborative Data Objects (CDO) installed. Mailboxes now successfully enabled for archiving.
