Enterprise Vault 10 SQL server crashed

NJCRU

I have EV10 running and SQL 2008 on a virtual server (VMWare).

My SQL server crashed and when rebooting into safe mode I can see it hangs on CLASSPNP.SYS.

My Question:

 Can I do the following:

1. rebuild a new virtual Machine with the same Name and IP

2. Install SQL (same version)

3. move the data drive from the old sql server to the new server

4. import the sql DB's into sql

5. Check if EV Directory services starts

How do you target your SQL server in EV? Do you use an alias?

If you use an alias, your steps are valid.

Make sure when installing SQL, you use the same Collation!

If you look here, it will assist: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH35744
