Enterprise Vault - Changing Retention Policies

MRWALLEYE
Level 3

We are currently Running Enterprise Vault 11.1 and are looking at changing our rentention policy. Currently we have 1 policy for all users which is to keep email forever. We have two groups of users that need different policys.

The bulk of our users only need a retention policy of 3 years
The rest of the users (a small percentage) need to be set to 7 years.

We were thinking we would export the 10 -15 users that need to be set to 7 years.

Then change the retention period from forever to 3 years for all the users. We would then create a new policy for the 10 to 15 users that need 7 years and import the PST's we exported earlier.

Would this work? Is there a better way?

Thanks!

Hi there, Your plan sounds very good.

Modifying the existing retention category for the large group of users will automatically change the retention time of the already archived emails.

And yes, you need to export (then archive again) the few users that you want to have another retention category for since you are creating a brand new retention category. The data retention will only change if you modify an existing retention category as we know.
