Hi,

We are planning to migrate our domain to other domain. In this scenario what are the best practices and easier solution for Evault domain migration.

Currently my EV server and SQL server resides on same box (e.g. Test.ABC.com).Now we want to migrate EV server on different domain (e.g.Test.XYZ.com), but here we are planning to split SQL server on different server. Kindly suggest the best plan for mention scenario.

As we are using enterprise vault version 11 whcih was installed on windows 2012 R2.

Regards

DN

Hello,

See http://www.veritas.com/docs/000068603

This describes moving EV to a new domain.

First move the current configuration to the new domain. When done, you can move the databases to a new SQL server.

Move databases see http://www.veritas.com/docs/000028296

Plus for some automation: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000020619

Good luck.

Did you read the PDF? Step 5 covers this.

In short, if you use an alias for your EV server (EV001.olddomain.com points to EVSRV001.olddomain.com) then adjust the alias EV001.olddomain.com point to EVSRV001.newdomain.com

That keeps shortcuts functioning.

If that is not the case, you might need to rebuild the shortcuts, which is described also.

Depends where the users are at the point of the EV migration...My advise is to have the trust (Two-Ways) between the domains just in case, you should have this in place already for the AD and exchange mailboxes migration already? Also, one thing to note is, where is your EV backend storage i.e. where are the EV partitions and index locations stored? If they are attached to the EV server as local drives then you should be OK just to migrate EV server across the domain as described in the technotes, if not, i.e. if your EV partitions and index locations are stored on CIF shares/networks shares such as a Net Filer etc. then this needs to pointed or migrated to the new domain etc.

As a whole there's of lot of things to consider when migarting EV between domains/forest and not just the EV server or/and SQL themselves. Where are you at with the AD and exchange migration between the domains. EV server migration should happen after those migration have completed.
