When will the hotfix be published for this?

Exchange Journaling tasks may go into a failed state when processing distribution lists.   Is this all distribution lists?  There's not a lot of info.

We are about to upgrade from 8 SP4 to 9 SP1.

My recommendation is to wait until Ev9 SP2 is released at least before going to the next version and even then wait two months ore more after the SP is released to make sure all is settled before upgrading

That way most of these kind of issues are corrected.

It will be released as soon as QA and Development have finished working through it.

I would upgrade to 9.01, and NOT apply the mentioned hotfix for Outlook 2007.

The issue only seems to be occurring when you have this hotfix applied.

If your archiving from Exchange 2007, and you have OL2003 as client on your ev-servers, you're fine as well.

I exchange an email with my colleague who is intimately aware of these issues...

The 9.0.1 journaling issues are to do with the journal task (ie problems in our code), not external stuff (like Outlook hotfixes)

However, the Outlook 2007 hotfix *CAN* impact the journal task, hence the recommendation to uninstall it.

Hello Rob,

Question for clarification of you don't mind.

Does that answer imply that the issue can also occurr when running 9.01 WITHOUT that Outlook fix?

If I recall correct, the issue has been reported only after people have applied that fix, not before (at least in the forum that is).

I would expect the issue to have surfaced sooner if it was not depending on the OL-fix.

Should we (the community) then indeed wait for a hotfix on 9.01 or for 9.SP2?

Regards. Gertjan

Yes the issue can occur in 9.0.1, without the Outlook hotfix installed.

My personal opinion is .. wait..  or at the very least test in a test lab to see if you are going to encounter the issues (and you'll need some load generated against journaling)

Think around the problem..  Do you REALLY need 9.0.1 server?    Will 9 base suffice?

Had the same issue just now. Applied the hotfix and it all works great.
