Enterprise Vault Proxy Server and Outlook Anywhere

Hi,

I'm trying to understand more about this Outlook Anywhere (rpc over http) method of connecting to EV and I wanted to know if an EV Proxy server was a requirement or not.

I understand that an EV Server can act as this Proxy server and was wondering if I can convert an existing EV Server to act as a Proxy too or do I install a new Proxy EV server?

I think it depends on how many people you're expecting to use it at any one time But you could do something like https://archive.mycompany.com/ --> https://evServer1.internal.dom/ If you were to have tens of thousands of users at any one time then you could use an appliance to load balance it and create a round robin so it cycles through different EV servers But really that's all based on reverse proxying through something like TMG. Only time you'd want an actual EV proxy server in my opinion is if your only option was to have an EV server in the dmz
