Enterprise Vault Recommendations

Hi all -

Looking for some recommendations on the size of the following drives that are used as a system configuration example:

E:\Pagefile - Windows Temp - Cache - PST Holding - PST Temp
F:\Mesage Queue (MSMQ)

Our environment is Server 2008 w/32G RAM + 850G Local storage
The EV server will also be the SQL server.  We are using file and Exchange archiving, but I need to also build the server for a future implementation of SharePoint archiving as well.

Thank you for any suggestions.

The "Symantec Enterprise Vault 8.0 Performance Guide" provides some guidance on this:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/312319

This is for EV 8.0... this and other versions of this doc can be found here:
"Listing of Symantec Enterprise Vault (tm) 6.0, 7.0, 2007 and 8.0 Manuals and links to the respective TechNotes"

If going to do what you plan to (exchange, sharepoint and file-archiving), do NOT put SQL and EV on the same box.
That will give you problems performance wise.

It is strongly recommended to seperate them out. Depending on the volume you are going to archive, you might not need a big sql-server, but do spread them out!

Gertjan,
I'm not entirely sure i agree, with a machine of that size and strength, you could see a lot of benefits having EV and SQL together in that environment
that being said, if you are going to archive a LOT of email then move Storage databases out to seperate SQL Servers

however as long as the EV Data, Indexes SQL databases and SQL Trans logs all share different spindles then the IO should be good enough, memory and CPU should adequately handle a moderate load on that type of system
