I am working on a project to implement EV 10 for a client. The installation and configuration are compelete and now we have begun testing. As part of the testing we would like to do a test restore of an EV storage parition.
We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 with the EV agent.
Has anyone peformed a test restore? And if so are you able to a directed restore or item based restore?
From all the documentation it seems like its an all or nothing type of restore.
Any suggestions on how to test the restore?
Thanks

its pretty much an all or nothing restore, theres no brick level backup like individual archives or whatnot.
So for instance if you deleted an archive by accident and wanted to restore only that archive, theres nothing you can do but restore the entire dataset
After the restore you should run EVSVR which is the EV Storage Verification utility that you can have it cross reference the database entries with whats on the file system and vice versa

rob, i would install EV in a VM environment and restore the data to it for testing.

AFAIK Symantec Back Exec do support restore at item level granularity but not sure which version.

amit, maybe you're talking about restoring a single dvs file but JW is talking about restoring at the archived item level which is completely different.

If you are looking for restoring individual archive restore then there is no shortcut! You have to build a recovery server and its lot of work.
If you looking for recovering the server then the below link may help,
