Enterprise Vault - issue with changing Provisioning Groups

Hi,

Never used EV before and have rtfm but a little stuck.

Newly inherited Enterprise vault 7.0 SP5 with exch 2007 sp3.

Two provisioning groups

employee - target applied using AD group membership

leaver - Target applied using OU

In a nut shell. User was an employee and member of an AD group for EV - email was archiving correctly after 6 months

User left - group membership for EV was revoked and user account put in Leavers OU - email archiving policy changed to archive all after 2 days.

User rejoined, account was moved out of the Leavers OU and AD account added back into the EV group - Provisioning Group and Exchange policy did NOT change back.

In 'Display Policies Assigned to Mailboxes' the following is being displayed for the user.

Provisioning group - Leavers

Exchange Policy - Leavers  Mailbox Policy

Should be

Provisioning Group - Desktop users

Exchange policy - Desktop Mailbox policy

Q. How can i change the users Provisioning group and exchange policy to desktop users and mailbox policy as per other users?

Thank you in advance

Nick

Hi WiT Send,

Thank you for your reply - that got me on the right track.

The leavers PG was first to be processed. However the problem was caused by the fact that the leaver PG was pointing at a non-existant Target OT. This resulted in the provisioning task erroring and stopping. As the users was associated with the a PG further down the list, it had not be processed and therefore never recieved the update to its settings.

placing the Desktop PG first resulted in the correct policy being applied to the user

tidying up the targets of all the PG's has resulted in EV now working for all users.

Thank you ,

Nick

1.  What order are the Prov Groups listed?

2.  Looking in the properties of the PG (Leavers) what is the target; individual user, OU, DL, etc...?  Is the user in question still a part of that target?

3. Looking in the properties of the PG (Desktop), what is the target and is the user in question a member of that/those targets?

4. Open the provisioning task properties, change it to the Logging level in reports to full, and do a "run now" of the provisioning report.  That will tell you which group the user is captured by.

As a note...  The PGs are processed in the order they are listed.  The first PG that captures a user is what PG they are it.
