We have an EV 12.4 environment that archives data from an aging EMC VNX array. The VNX hosts several CIFS shares of user home directories and EV archives files from the user home directories and replaces these with EV placeholders. The VNX is due to be replaced and all the data needs to be moved from the old VNX to a new EMC array. Again the data will be presented from the new EMC array as CIFS shares.
I'm trying to get a good understanding of the process here - I understand how this would be done when migrate archived data between Windows file servers on NTFS volumes and the different options and approaches that can be used - eg FSAUtil etc - What is the high level process of migrating file data for EMC arrays..... can FSAUtil be used in the same manner or is this a more complex activity?
