Entries pointing to old archive server ( that's gone)

A long while back - archive data was imported from another EV organisation into our EV set up.

Things did not run well and there are archives that point to an old EV server that no longer exists ( was part of the other organisation)

As a consequence the EV server spend a lot of effort sending out error message saying the server is not available

Anyone know how to identify emails which point to an EV server that not longer exists ?

as a side issue the archived emails are redundant as they cannot be opned any way

How did you do the import?

some were via export to psts then import the psts into new mailbox accounts

though i believe someone else used a Symantec process - whereby our EV server 'talked' directly to the other organisations EV server  -  I think there were issues and this method was curtailed

There is a way, but it is not easy.

Dtrace DirectoryService and ArchiveTask.

Look for:-

(ArchiveTask) <5420> EV:L CBaseDirectoryServiceWrapper::CreateDirectoryService() - Will try to connect to EV Directory Service on OTHEREVSERVERNAME

This continues for a while and the eventually errors in "An Error Occurred - RequestedServername = [OTHEREVSERVERNAME]......... [0x800706ba]

To narrow down the items the process is along the following vein:

This process will then give you folder structures etc as part of the MovedItemsUpdate

[5252] (ArchiveTask) <5420> EV:M CArchivingAgent::ProcessMovedItemsInFolder - processing moved items in folder '\Foldername\Foldername\' for user '/o=LOL/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (xxx)/cn=Recipients/cn=mmarvin'

Even then you will be running this process for a long time.
