We have setup enterprise vault 9.0 which was runnning for exchange 2003 servers. Now we have added exchange 2010 servers to the same setup. We see many logs in the event viewer pertaining to the new tasks created. Below are the events seen in the the event viewer:

Please assist if anyone has seen such issues in their environments or if there are any resolutions to these events. This happens only when the tasks for the Exchange 2010 servers run. Configuration is given below.

Exchange Server 2003 SP2 Version 6.5 (OS running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 - Enterprise Edition SP2)

Enterprise Vault for Microsoft Exchange Version: 9.0.1.1073 (OS running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP2)

Exchange Server 2010 Version: 14.01.0289.008 (OS running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise)

We recreated the tasks and ran the provisioning task. The same is working now. Many thanks for all the help on this case.

Have a look at the Install and config guide.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC2845 .

Check the section titled    "Preinstallation task for Exchange Server 2010 and 2007"

Section 1. Item 6.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the document. We had followed this when we were creating the tasks. Is there some fix for these MAPI errors that show in the logs with event id's 3231. This happens everyday and there is lot of troubleshooting we have done from our end but still the same issue. We also ran the fixmapi app, but still no luck. Please advise further on this. Also we have noticed the below error continously. This is coming for our exchange 2010 server.

There was a problem accessing an Exchange 2010 or later server.  The dispenser will re-queue the current item and sleep for 1 minute(s).

K so try the following 1. Log on to your Exchange 2010 CAS server and ensure that you do no see any errors in the event log pertaining to the EVAdmin account, it could be breaching the 2010 throttling policy (perhaps the number of connections or the time spent executing a command on the CAS server) 2. Log on to the EV server as the EV admin account and add either the Closest GC registry key or the DS Server registry key that would point to your CAS server or a global catalog in your environment 3. Ensure that you have Outlook 2007 SP2 installed plus the performance hotfix 4. Run the deployment scanner to ensure that the pre requisite permissions such as Send As/Recieve As are applied, also try creating an outlook profile on the EV server logged in as the evadmin and make sure that you are not getting prompted for username and password, if you do that would indicate that permissions have not been applied You may also want to get a DTrace of archiveTask and see what errors it shows in the background

Check the following thread where a similar situation has been seen Personally I had this issue myself and needed to extend the throttling policy to be online with the same policies that Blackberry Enterprise Server uses https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/ev-9-exchange-2010-there-was-problem-accessing-exchange-2010-or-later-server

Hi Jesus,

I have ran the Dtrace for the archive task. Please find the file attached. Kindly let me know if you can see any issues.

hey Praveen,
Could you try generating a new log for us?
You may need to stop all your tasks (both the 2003 tasks and the 2010 tasks) then start the dtrace and start the Exchange 2010 tasks only
Reading through the logs, there aren't any events, there are no failures, no errors, no MAPI errors either etc, so can't really tell what the issue might be, sorry
