Exchange 2010 SP1 archiving problems

Hello,

We are  archiving Exchange 2010 SP1  DAC servers with our W2K8 R2 EV servers.

1 EV server ( 4 CPU, 4GB Ram, virtual machines) pro Exchange 2010SP1  DAC( 2 exchange servers pro DAC)

Our EV servers are installed with EV9 and the Smime hotfix .

On the EV server I installed with the consultant 2007 SP2with Hotfix KB 968858.

At the beginning everything was OK it was even really efficient but nowadays we should archive around 10000 mailboxes pro DAC ( each 2 Exchange server) and I get constant problems and errors.

I see in the queues that it is not going forward and in event log I see a lot of 3411,2217,2216.

Unfortunately I can’t pinpoint what the problem is and when it really happens.

I also have the registry key for the closest GC on each machine.

Everytime I restart or the server or the services it woks again for a certain amount of time and then stops again.

Could anybody give me an hint in which direction the problem could be as I don't see anything special otherwise in my event log ?

Thank you for any help

Sandrine

Take a look at :

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH129173

It's a different Outlook 2007 hotfix, which is believed to solve many issues relating to MAPI connections.

Hello Sandrine,

Also look at the NSPI settings: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/329779.htm

Hello Sandrine,

Outlook 2010 in the EV-server is NOT yet supported!

It is still 'pending' according to the compatibility guide from 7-12-2010

For archiving an Exchange 2010 server, it is required to have Outlook 2007 installed with some hotfixes.

Got the same errors at one of my customers, took quite a while before we found events on the CAS servers stating that the EV throttling policy went over budget.

Reason for this is that there is only one of th RCAxxxxxx parameters that is set to $null in the throttling policy (RCAMaxConcurrency).

We set all the RCA parameters to $null for the EV throttling policy and the errors went away, we've also used the hotfix mentioned above in regard to the outlook 2007 limitations. This customer used 2003 DC's so no NSPI restrictions, otherwise you'll need to look at that as well.

You should not use the "Closest GC" key with Exchange 2010, use "DS Server" key instead.

You can read more in the following thread.

I just installed the sp3 for outlook 2007 on my ev servers and I'll see how it works for the next scheduled run ( next night).

Any way I 'll tag Rob's suggestion  as the answer if this works.
