FSA on 2008 Cluster

Hi,

I have been running FSA on a 2008 cluster for sometime now but only just spotted a small problem i can not find a solution to.

I have the following nodes

  • fsnode1
  • fsnode2
  • fsnode3
  • fsnode4

With the following services

  • fs0
  • - Share1
  • fs1
  • - Share2
  • fs2
  • - Share3
  • FSA
  • - Place holder service

If FS0 and FSA are running on the same node (fsnode1) then archived documents can be retrieved from Share1 but not share2 or 3. It appears that the FSA place holder service has to be running on the same node that the share is being hosted from, i thought maybe i should run an FSA service on each node but what happens if they all ended up on the same node during a failover?.

Hope the explanation makes sense , any advise much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Don't you just make the placeholder service a local resource? And yes, they will need to be on each node

Thanks for your reply , i think i understand now ,

I have already got the FSA placeholder service installed on all four nodes , but the service was controled by the cluster so although it could run on any of the nodes it was only ever running on one at a time.

I think if i remove the FSA service from the cluster and start the service on all of the nodes like you suggest all with be good.

Thanks for helping me see the light
