FSA task creates the placeholders and removes space but I haven't seen any space return...

Hey All-

I ran my FSA task a few days ago and everything worked correctly... Shortcuts were removed and placeholders were created however I have not seen the space return to my storages aggregate. Thoughts??

Hi Trevor, 

Do you have the following in place? SetNetappPHOriginalSize

It can be found in the Registry Guide -

The default behavior is to emulate the original file size.

Not sure if you are understanding my issue or If i am missing something. The placeholders read 0KB which is fine however after I run the FSA the the report states I should be recieving around 160GB back to my NetApp storage aggregate. I ran the FSA task on Tuesday of last week and I am just now seeing the space return to the aggregate.

Hi Trevor, 

Once EV has created the PH file it is done with processing the item.  If the file size is set correctly than it would seem there is something not being released on the NetApp side. Is it possible the data is still retained in snapshot space?
