FYI: New Outlook 2007 hotfix released for performance

Hey guys,
Just thought i'd give you a headsup in case you didn't know, Microsoft have released the official Outlook 2007 performance hotfix that should be used, especially if you are archiving from Exchange 2010. The previous hotfix came with certain issues around memory usage and caused tasks to crash, this has now been resolved

The hotfix can be found here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2475891

Cheers

The QA testing has been completed on the patch and no issues were found regarding the Exchange mailbox or journal archiving.

As you know we don't normally test the cumulative updates but this was done specifically due to the recent issues.  The testing isn't a full regression test (otherwise you'd be waiting weeks).

Expect blog entries and such to be updated shortly and Tech notes following those.

Regards

Karl

We're in the process of validating the released version of the fix to make sure it does what it's supposed to and also to check for unexpected side effects as sometimes things creep in between pre-release and final versions. I'm not expecting to see any issues at this time

We have round about 7 Customer, which are directly affected to this issue.

The KB is not updated at this point. One of the original-Threads is not updated:

Symnatec-Support doesn't give us the Go...

Nick, Is there a timeline or a target for an official "Go"?

Thanks and Kind Regards

Well i can tell you that the original MS performance hotfix that was released we installed on a number of our servers which resulted in instability
Microsoft then gave us a development hotfix which we've had installed for the last month on all our EV servers that host Outlook 2007, this is the same fix that was rolled in to the cumulative hotfix and we haven't had a single issue with it since

Hey Alex,

do you have any news on that yet? I know QA takes some time but we have many customers waiting desperately for this fix. Maybe a rough ETA?

Small update: Mailbox archiving tests have been completed and journaling is currently in progress.  We hope to have it wrapped up by the end of the week.
