File System Archiving & Place-holder Files Question

DP

I just archived data older than two years from a folder located on one of my File and Print servers.  I have successfully backed up both the Enterprise Vault Server as well as the File and Print server.  However, I am still not seeing the place-holder files that are supposed to replace the original files.
What is the problem?

Placeholders will be created on the next archiving run. 1st run does the archiving - 2nd run does the conversion to placeholders (as long as the backup is complete and the vault is set for after backup). If you run in Report mode you will see what the action is.....

Thank you very much for the explanation, but just to be clear, what system needs to be backed up: the Enterprise Vault server or the target server or both?

Mark was referring to the Vault Store partition where the dvs files are.

Followup question, if you have the option to "delete archive file if placeholder is deleted" enabled, and you delete a placeholder, does the deletion of the archived item occur right away, or does that too wait until the next archive task run?  Thanks.
