Hello Guys,

I know that only way for assign mailbox policy for archive is using provision group. But, my customer needed to assign different mailbox policies in the same archive. He needed to apply based on the following rule:

Inbox, Sent Items and Draft -> Do not archive, and delete mensagens automatically when is older than 2 moths.

Another folders -> Archive mesagens older than 2 moths.

I'm trying find solution for customer. I thought use Data Classification, but a i can't see how to do this.

Are you have any idea how it'll be possible? I belive its impossible, what you think?

I will install EV 10.

Thanks.

Actually I think your best bet is to use Managed Folders in Exchange.
Set Exchange to do the deletion after two months.
Set the Archiving Policy to NOT archive managed folders, thus it will not archive anything in the \Inbox etc
Set the Archiving Policy to archive anything older than 2 months

That way you don't have to use any EVPM, and you can use Managed Folders on the exchange side to achieve what you want

Check out the Utilities.pdf and look at EVPM, Enterprise Vault Policy Manager.

You could set your default policy to archive older than 2 months and use EVPM to set a policy of Do Not Archive.

Also, some info here:

One thing to note though is that EV won't do the bit about automatically deleting mails after 2 months in folders which aren't archived.

Tony is right, as far as i know using EVPM script is the only way. Please let me know if you need help for writing EVPM script.

Thanks Guys.

In next week I will test solution provieded by Tony. Considering the notes said by Rob.

Both informations together and reading Utilities Guide help me for set the following solution:

  • Archive ALL mensagens older than 2 months, but applying different retention category for Inbox, Sent Items and Draft. This different retention category expired as sonn as possible (Eg. 1 day).

I can do this using EVPM script Section Folder.

What do you think?

Thanks again Guys. I will send updates about my tests in lab environment at the end of this week.
