Depends on what you're doing, but typically it's active primary mailboxes So if you have 100 users and each has a secondary mailbox and you have 100 users who have left the company, you would have 300 archives, but only need to be licensed for 100 users

If you're talking Sharepoint or File Share archiving, you can license by seat or by capacity.  Typically, however, you'd want to use the capacity-based licensing.

Capacity would be by the amount of archive storage capacity that you'll have available.

I have got FSA to archive files and also EV for Exchange server to archive mail.

You FSA license would be based on the amount of data you intend to archive.  Exchange licensing is based on number of active users.

I had a thought that FSA licensing had changed too...  Could be wrong on that !

Last I checked the FSA part is either the amount of archived data or per seat.

Meaning there are two different options for FSA.

Exchange is per active mailbox.

On the other hand the licensing change over time so it's probably best to check with your sales rep.

Hello John,

I would recommend you to contact the Symantec Sales team:

http://www.symantec.com/support/assistance_care.jsp

The sales team can clarify any doubts or concerns you might have regarding the Enterprise Vault licensing program.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Hi EV,

My concern is about the EV client that I have included in the SOE build of my Windows + Office image, does this means if I have deployed 500 SOE image as VM and 475 Exchange users approximately but the amount of Archived Mailbox in EV count total is 750, then I'll need to have 475 license ?

is that correct ?

Hi John,

I am bit confuse about this. Could you let me know whether you already had 750 Users present for archiving and you want to add new 475 user for archiving.

Is user who belongs to 750 is not part of 475 users ?

If you want to add new 475 users who doesn't have archive in Vault Admin console then you need to buy license for 475 users.
