How to batch export vaults to exchange mailboxes directly

We are running Vault 10.0.1 and Exchange 2010 SP2 UR4.  We are using Vault to archive mail from mailboxes.  (duh).

Due to some patching issues with Vault, we are trying to find out if there's a way to automatically export all email from all Vault mailboxes back into the existing Exchange mailboxes.  There are of course ways to use the GUI to do this for one mailbox/user, but is there a way, via the GUI or command line or using a CSV spreadsheet to do this unattended?

We have near 10K mailboxes, so, we're looking for a nice method/tool to do this.

Thank you in advance for any of your ideas and help.

Sincerely,

Michael Reinders

...of course there are plenty of third party tools willing to do this process for you (in a nice, automated and more feature rich way). ESPECIALLY if you want to pump the archive directly into the secondary mailbox...

The only inproduct way is throug the GUI.. the Export Archive Utility to be exact.  You can select multiple, and it's reasonably okay to use.

Thank you very much for the reply Rob, but I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how to choose multiple mailboxes/users at once in a batch with the GUI.

Could you please list the step-by-step for how to do this?  Thanks again.  (sorry).

Step by Step (Video, soon, well, maybe a few days !)

Right click on Archives in the VAC.

Choose Export.

Choose Export Archives to their original mailboxes.

On the next screen, filter, or display all, etc, etc..  so that you're doing a 'chunk'

You'll get a resulting list on the next page.

Click Select All.

Make sure the number selected isn't 10,000... that wouldn't be a pretty sight to see :(

Choose Export All Items

Confirm the Export Settings, and whe you click 'next' off it'll go

... as Jeff said. But they do have a cost, time impact, and learning curve. So it depends on your needs and wants.
