Hello MontoN,

I am not sure what else we can provide you with. Here is a short overview. For exact steps, please consult the EV documentation.

1 - prepare server (OS, Outlook, storage, alias, Journal Archiving Policy, Retention (!!) etc)

2 - Install EV

3 - Configure EV, add to existing site.

4 - Define Exchange Journal Mailbox, configure journaling in Exchange to use this Journal Mailbox.

5 - Define Vault Store Group, Vault Store, Vault Store Partitions for Journal in EV

6  - Define Journal Archive in EV

7 - Define Journal Archiving task in EV on new server

8 - Define Journal Mailbox in EV, use earlier defined task, archive etc.

9 - Start task, monitor Journal Mailbox in Exchange to see items being archived.

Installing an EV server that only does Journal Archiving is equal to setting up a mailarchiving server.

You need to know how much you are going to archive, to base the specs for the server on, but the rest is identical. If you go to use EV11SP1, SMTP archiving, read the documentation accompanying EV11 on that.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your reply. We need to know is there any standard procedure for installing journal server on same site?

Thanks,

MontoN.

No, thats what Gertjan is saying, theres no physical difference between a mailbox server or a journal server, they're both exactly the same, its just one has a Journal task and the other has a mailbox archiving task

You could if you wanted have one EV Server hosting both mailbox and journal archiving tasks
or you could move your journal task to your mailbox archiving server, and move your mailbox archiving task to your journal server

As far as EV is concnerned, they're just EV servers with different tasks, they're all the same
