How to move Audit Database from one sql server to another

had problems trying to move an audit database from sql2005 to sql2008.  When i go to restore it wants me to use the ev directory mdf files and I haven't found a way around it.  I don't want to use the option restore with replacement cause I believe that will overwrite the files...  Any ideas... EV 8.0sp3 win 32 bit going to 2003 64 bit sql 2008 sp1.

Would it be acceptable to just create a new Audit Database and start over?

This technote walks through that.

I'm not sure, but I believe our dba follow:

make backup of database
detach database
copy to sql2008
attach database

Check document http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/340611.htm

When you did the backup did you do a FULL backup to a .bak file?

I did do a full backup of audit to a .bak file, when i go to restore in sql the mdf file it needs is the same one as the directory db so it wont let me use it unless i do a with replace option in sql.  Its using the vaultdev70 and vauldev1log70 files the same as the directory db....I already restored the directory db...
