Import pst into archive

PoorAdmin

We are running EV for Microsoft Exchange v11. We are trying to import a pst file into an archive where the mailbox and AD account no longer exist. It fails each time. Before I go further I'd like to know if this is even possible. Thank you.

Hello,

I believe it is possible, but check the following:

Is the Billing Account showing a SID instead of a name? If so, change to VSA.

Does your PST policy have setting to create shortcut in mailbox? If so, change this to not create shortcuts.

Does it fail with an error? Anything in the eventlog?

Regards. Gertjan

Yes, it fails with event id 6999

Also, the "Bill usage to:" shows a SID.

You will need to follow these steps:

  1. Create a Shared archive and import the PST to it and grant the proper permissions to users that need to search the archive
  2. Recreate the AD account and mailbox

a. Add to a Provisioning group

b. Perform a 'Run Now' in Normal mode on the Provisioning Task

c. Run the Enable Mailbox wizard and assign the account to the original archive

Note: If you do not choose the original archive, it will create a new archive

d. Run the import once again
