Hi everyone,
I was thinking about impact of having an index server groups on backup. Let's say I have:
We know that when archiving, it archiving server doesn't find an indexing service on itself, it will create index volume randomly (round robin) on index server group. So, for an administrator view, it will become really hard to know which archive has its indexes on which indexing server.
Usually, when you have a single EV server with storage and indexing services and you want to backup it, you need to set in backup mode indexes and vault stores on the server.
But when having 2 EV servers with 2 indexing servers in an index server group, backup of one EV server will need to put the whole index server group in backup mode. because each of the 2 indexing servers will host indexes linked to archives on both EV servers. In fact, I will need to backup both EV servers while all indexes in the index server group are in backup mode...
Am i right?
Thank you in advance!
Samir

Ideally when you perform a backup you need to have your vault store and indexes should be in backup mode, so when you perform backup , there are no changes made in the database as no new data is archive. So ideally you need to have index group in backup mode, and the backup job should be configured to backup exery thing at one time>
