Index locations - storage

Hi

We have a new physical ev9 server in a new site. Should indexes be kept local to the ev server? We have 90Gb local disk available. However how do other customers manage when their local storage fills up? You can't do rollovers with indexes, so you'd therefore need to either present SAN disk to your physical server or create new indexes on a fileserver (in  our case an EMC celerra). From past experiences indexes on a celerra or any offserver storage means sluggish search results if not using offline vault?

thanks

James

You can do "sort-of" rollover.

Create a new index location on a new disk, then do the following to move some indexes to the new place:

in the vac, go to archives, you can move the index there on a per archive basis. (you have to copy the index folder yourself, but this will take care of changing the db).

This way you can move let's say 50% of the indexes to the new drive, and leave the rest on the old so you got both locations.
