Installing Client Extensions on a Terminal Server

Deanna_Gleeson

We are using Outlook 2003 SP2 On Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Terminal Server and are having issues with the Client Extensions. For some users the add-ins do not appear to be installed at all. For others we get an error with the Valkyrie.dll add-in. For others the client seems to work fine.

We are using Enterprise Vault 6 SP3 and I have also tried the EV 7 SP1 client as recommended by support. Does anyone have a recommended install for terminal server or any ideas on what else I could try to get the installation of the client on our Terminal servers to work?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Deanna,
I know of a couple dozen instances of companies running EV Extensions on Citrix.

You will need to be aware of the following:

If Outlook 2000 is installed on the Terminal Server, the user sees the following error when they try to view an archived item:
The form you selected could not be displayed. The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator.
Can't open this element. Can't display the form. Contact your administrator.
To resolve this issue, install Outlook 2000 SR1 and apply the steps outlined in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;249965

and

Forms with VBScript do not work with Terminal Services in Outlook 2002 and in Outlook 2003
If Outlook XP is installed on the Terminal Server, nothing happens when the user double clicks on an archived item to attempt to view it.
See this article for details of the problem and solution: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302003

We came across the same issue. See Microsoft Q article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302003

WE have already added the outlvbs.dll and that has not solved the problem. Our problem seems to be with the continually disabled valkyrie.dll

We are now in the process of trying to completely remove the evclient 6 sp3 from our terminal servers. That is not going smoothly either. Once that is done, I think that we will try adding the EVclient 7 sp1 and hope that works correctly. I really would just like to see a documented install for the terminal server environment and hear that this install works for someone.
