Invalid Journal Report Exchange 2003/2010 Mixed Environment

We recently upgraded to Exchange 2010 and currently running a 2003/2010 Mixed Environment. We are also running Enterprise Vault 9.0 with Journaling. I have the Exchange 2010 Server set to send Journal Reports to the Journal Mailbox which resides on the 2003 Server. Everything is running smoothly, however about half of the e-mails that originate on mailboxes that are located on the 2010 server, don't get journaled properly. The item ends up in a folder in Outlook called 'Invalid Journal Reports'. The e-mails have the paperclip icon next to them like there is an attachment, however there is no message attached to it.

Anybody have ideas?

So yes, you will have "Duplicates" but with OSIS at least the majority of the stuff (like attachments) will be single instanced so you won't be taking up a dramatic amount of space, and the items will have "Duplicates" in the index as well, however if you use DA9 it does a lot better job at knowing what items are duplicates and will group them together.

So rather than seeing 10 pages of the same item, you'd have one item shown with a symbol showing that it has multiple copies of the same email.

You need to journal your 2003 items from a 2003 box and 2010 items ona 2010 box
The reason is the format and the engineering onthe envelopes are basically two entirely different versions, and EV will treat the items different depending on the version of the Exchange server its connecting to

So for instance if you were to forward all your 2003 items to a 2010 server, you'd find that all the 2003 items got moved to the invalid folder and the 2010 items would archive correctly

I tried this, by setting up a new mailbox on the 2010 Exchange server and pointing the 2010 Server to journal to it. However, now anytime someone that has their mailbox on the 2010 server goes to e-mail someone whose mailbox is on the 2003 server, the message goes to both journals, so wouldn't this be archived twice? Or will EV recognize that it is the same message and discard one of them?
