Lost password for EV VSA

SebastianLee
Not applicable

Good morning,

We have a single server EV setup that is currently being piloted to handful of users.  The admin that was working on the EV setup is no longer here, and the password documented for the Vault Service Account is not correct and we are not able to open management console as VSA at the moment.

Is there any special tricks in chaning the VSA password correctly?  Or is it just a simple matter of stopping services, changing password in AD, then change the passwords in services, then login to console as VSA with new password and changing "Directory Properties - Service Account"?

Any tips would be appreciated.

here you go. this assumes you have the current password so you'll need to change the order of the steps around but this should do it.

I've had the same a while ago. You can do this as follows:

Stop the services.

Change the password.

Logon to the server using the new password.

Change the password on the services Enterprise Vault Administration service and the Enterprise Vault directory service. Start these 2 services.

Open the console, rightclick on the Site (Directory on xxx), properties, Service Account.

Enter the new password. Verify it is reported the password on the services is changed. Restart the directory and admin service, then start the other services.
