Move Enterprise Vault 8.5 into standalone read only state

We are moving away for Enterprise Vault to a shared email system which will now be offsite. We have a significant investment in EV that we just can't delete and it's not an option to move to the new mail system or push everything back to exchange.

Question, Once the new mail system is up and running what would be the best way to put EV into a read only state considering EV has no hooks into the new exchange system?

Does archive explorer need the old exchange running to access the EV archive or can it work in a standalone state? Users would need access to the Evault mail for several years still being able to retrieve messages in the new system...

It would be best to keep these system separate as much as possible meaning if a user needed an archived message going to a separate shortcut to access the vault would work best...

Thanks

Hello OP.

Naturally you would loose all EV client functionality as the mailboxes would now no longer be seen as enabled. I would suggest you consider the potentail for a migration to your new system for ease of everything. If that is not an option, then it is possible aw Wit Suggested to keep the data accessible via the web applications... but restores though those web applications would fail also. It would be for open only requests that the interface could be used.

Can you please update this thread by either flagging some of the postings above as having resolved your issue or update the ticket with more details as to your issue? Doing so helps those who are helping direct their help to where it is most needed first.

Thanks in advanced.

You could keep the EV system running and publish to the users the Search and Archive Explorer links for access to their archives. One problem you will run into is how do you plan on keeping the permissions up to date? EV uses the provisioning process to update it's permissions and if you have no access into the new exchange you won't have that updated information.
