Hey Guys,
could you please verify the following procedure which we have planned:
We are in a huge Environment, but let us focus on the following part:
Asian: ExchangeServerAsia
Mailbox: JournalMBX
DBs: JournalingAsia
DBs: NormalAsia
Europe: ExchangeServerEurope
DBs to create: JournalingAsia1
DBs: NormalEurope
Actually we have a JournalMBX which is located on the NormalAsia DB, there is a JournalingAsia DB which is configured to Journal everything into the JournalMBX. 1st Question: Is it necessary to locate the JournalMBX on a DB which hasn't Journaling active? "Could imagine that but I want to verify :)"
Migration Steps:
1. We want to create a new DB on ExchangeServerEurope called JournalingAsia1 which has Journaling enabled and writes to JournalMBX which is located on ExchangeServerAsia.
2. We move the Users step by step from JournalingAsia DB to Journaling Asia1 DB on Exchange Server Europe.
3. After we moved all Users wie move the JournalMBX to the Exchange Server Europe Normale Europe DB
4. We create a new Journaling task with the JournalMBX as a target placed on Exchange Server Europe
5. We can delete the old Journaling Task ExchangeServerAsia
Best Regards,
Marcel

to answer your 1st question - that would not be required. depends on your exchange config mainly.
why do you want to journal from europe to asia? do you have an EV server in europe? the journaling architecture should be designed along with your EV

All Servers are placed in Europe only the the name is AP. Exchange is configured to Journal everything into the Journal Mailbox so still not required regarding the 1st Question?

Best practice is to put the Journal mbx in it's own DB.

Thanks WiTSend,
so Exchange doesn't Journal everything what gets Journaled into the Mbx again? So there is no Loop.
