Moved Items from Mailbox to PF

Have a scenario with EV 8.0 SP3, no shortcuts, and PF archiving retention is longer than mailbox retention:

Users want to move items from mailbox to PF so they can be kept longer than the mailbox retention. Is there any way for EV to update the retention category for that type of moved item?

Theres a couple of issues here:
Firstly: Moved Items / Update retention category isn't available for public folders
Secondly: When an item is archived in a public folder, although it will be single instanced, it won't change anything in the users mailbox due to the fact that the Public Folder and the users archive is completely seperate.

What they should probably do is set up virtual vault with different retention folders then move the items from one folder to another folder with longer retention that way you dont have to worry about public folders

Andrew,

I don't see the issue here, users want to drag normal items into Public Folders so it gets archived?

Why does the retention period need to change?

The issue occurs when the message has already been archived in their mailbox with a shorter retention category than the PF. They go looking for it after some time and it's been expired.
