Moving EV from cluster to single node.

Dear's,

I have EV 9 installed on 2 node windows clustered environment (physical servers), operating system is windows 2008 SP2.

I am planning to upgrade EV 9 to EV 10 , but as a pre-requisites EV 10 requires windows 2008 R2.

Is it possible to migrate the existing EV 9 which is on windows cluster to a single node virtual machine and then upgrade to EV 10 ?

This should be possible by EV migration wizard as details in guide.

"You can use the Enterprise Vault Server Settings Migration wizard to create migration packages for clustered Enterprise Vault servers. When you have created the migration packages you can then import them on clustered servers or on standalone servers."

When you create a migration package on a clustered server then import it on a standalone server, the Server Settings Migration wizard warns that the clustering configuration of the source and target servers are different, but you can continue with the import.

Hello Danish,

If you are already running an EV 9 cluster, you can use the ServerMigration Wizard to migrate this server directly to an EV 10 cluster. Take a look at these technotes:

How about if  I choose in-place upgarde of windows cluster and then finally I upgrade EV 9 to EV 10 on same clustered servers.

In that case, you need to confirm with Microsoft if you can upgrade a Windows 2008 SP2 server to Windows 2008 R2.

You can use this wizard to migrate & upgrade to 10.0.x, you don't need to upgrade separtely. Or In other words, migration wizard migrate from old environment to new environment and upgrade at the same, It simply save double ford efforts.

You can do in-place upgrade of win-cluster and upgrade EV as later part, but you need to take OS upgrade confirmation from MS first as Gabe told.
