We planning of moving Enterprise Vault SQL database to a dedicated server.

I read the instructions from Symantec about moving the EV database to another server.

I just have a question do I also need to move the system databases on MS SQL, does EV use these databases?

Thanks for any help you can provided :)

Regards

Jaime

No, not system databases. Only EV databases. Make sure you also move logins and roles.

just to add to this, Enterprise Vault will use the master and the tempdb databases but just through normal operation, however it doesn't matter if they're brand new temp/master databases

One thing to look out for is the Collation of the  master database on the new SQL server, must be the same as the collation of the Enterprise Vault databases, otherwise you will have to run the Collation script to matchi the collation of all the EV databases with the master on the new SQL server.

It is worth running deployment scanner after you have moved the databases to the new SQL server to make sure their are no reported issues (connecting/permission or sql collation) against SQL server.
