OWA Front-End install with merge-error

Hello all.

Exchange 2003 SP2 with some security fixes applied.
Backend installation and configuration works fine.
OWA straight to backend gives buttons etc.

Installation on Front-End fails with merge error.

Checked (using the doc as posted in downloads/articles section) checksums. It looks like the checksum that it gets from the control-folders on the frontend are not matching the checksums as mentioned in the checksum file on the EV-server install files.

What is possible to get the extentions to install properly?

This is in our demo/test environment, so no real urgency.

Thanks.

Gertjan

Funny mate!

@ Paul, thanks, will try that one.

@Michel, EV7.5SP2, Exchange 2003, with SP2 and some security fixes. Controlfolders are:
6.5.6944.0
6.5.7226.0
6.5.7233.28
6.5.7234.20
6.5.7638.1
6.8.7651.60

On the backends, controlfolder 6.5.7234.20 is updated (ie, has the controls-originals copied by EV folder)

I'll report back result of the article Paul mentioned.

hurray.

Setting the env.var to c:\temp seems to have resolved the installing problem.
I do not (ye) have the icons in OWA. I suspect this is due to the fact that the extentions are installed in the 6.5.7234.20 folder, not in the latest one.

Will investigate further and report back. I'm not closing this one yet.

Hurray!

A big thank you to Paul, for sending the link on the document.
Short version;
I checked, and indeed, also on the backends the wrong folder was updated.
I uninstalled all extentions (backend and frontend).
I renamed the 6.5.7234.20 folder to 6.5.7234.20.OLD
I re-installed extentions and configured them.
resynced users
I tried, no icons and other options. DAMN!

Then recalled to empty IE-cache.

Voila, working environment.

Long version
On the backend exchangeservers, commandprompt in c:\program files\enterprise vault\owa\
type - cscript backend2003setup.wsf /remove
Add/remove programs, uninstall EV extentions
Remove Enterprise Vault folder from c:\program files
Renamed 6.5.7234.20 folder in c:\program files\exchsrv\exchweb folder
Install backend extentions
verified last control folder had extra folder (originals etc)
copied over evservers.txt file to c:\program files\enterprise vault\owa folder
start, programs, ev, configure backend extentions

On frontend exchange server
On the frontend exchangeserver, commandprompt in c:\program files\enterprise vault\owa\
type - cscript frontend2003setup.wsf /remove
Add/remove programs, uninstall EV extentions
Remove Enterprise Vault folder from c:\program files
Renamed 6.5.7234.20 folder in c:\program files\exchsrv\exchweb folder
Install frontend extentions
verified last control folder had extra folder (originals etc)
start, programs, ev, configure frontend extentions

On Vaultserver, in Vaultconsole, rightclick mailbox archiving task, properties, tab Synchronize, sync all users.

On client, empty IE-cache (start, programs, settings, controlpanel, IE-options, delete files and delete cookies)

Connect to frontend, login, voila.
I do have to enter username/password when opening Archive Explorer, but that is a minor (resolvable) issue

Thanks again.

Gertjan
