OfflineVault WAN limitation/problem

Hi all!

As we're going to upgrade the OS on all computers in our company we recognized that the OfflineVault starts synchronizing after reinstalling the computer - and as we're replacing more than one computer a day this will end up in a network issue as the Enterprise Vault serve is located in a data centre.

Is there any opportunity to avoid this resp. a solution how to handle?

Thx & RG

Okay, well it is likely the same issue will exist with Outlook, and cached mode.

Or isn't cached mode used?

To 'fix' the EV side of things you could make it so that users 'choose' when to setup Vault Cache, rather than enabling it automatically.  Remember also that the download of the .DB files is a/ bandwidth aware (it uses BITS) and b/ can be stopped using the content strategy part of the desktop policy.  The MDC unfortuantely though will still generate sizeable network traffic per archive.

Could the new computer be put 'temporarily' close to the data centre to do the initial synch?
