Main points from my head are:

- Automated scheduled archiving of end user mailboxes

- Ability to archive many different content types (not just Exchange Mailbox Archives)

- Data ownership (comes in to play in some locations because when the data is not your premises, which laws are applicable)

- Richer end user experience (new EV 11 Search, Virtual Vault, Mail Connect, etc, etc)

Do you want to do:

Journal Archiving

Or

Journal Archiving and Mailbox Archiving

Or

Mailbox Archiving

Automated mailbox archiving is only possible with Enterprise Vault on prem.

This might help: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/Symantec-Enterprise-Vault-Exchange-2010-3724282.S.233773132

Well the link talks about On premises Exchange vs office 365.

My question was On Preimse EV deployment vs EV .Cloud for on presmise Exchange, email archiving.

I don't think I've ever seen a direct comparison since they are different beasts. EV on premises is what is required if you want to do automated archiving of end-user mailboxes.  AFAIK EV.Cloud allows donation, but not actual mailbox archiving in the background.

I posted these links on your other thread but wanted to cross post here:

You might want to look at their respective sites:

http://www.symantec.com/enterprise-vault-cloud

and

http://www.symantec.com/enterprise-vault

There is a scenario guide but I think it is for partners only.

There is also this post from JW3 https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/pros-and-consfeature-comparison-ev-and-evcloud#comment-8765111

Might be worth a read of those articles.

Also, jwong post a comparision sheet.  I think it is pretty high level but hopefully helps: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/what-are-differences-between-premises-enterprise-vault-deployment-vs-enterprise-vaultcloud#comment-10135231

Hey Rob, one thing I'm not very clear yet, why we would like to have in house EV deployment over EV.Cloud ? Is there any significant benefits? The main bullet points?

Does EV.Cloud clears space in Exchange mailbox? in other word if you are using EV.Cloud then how do you manage your mailbox space?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that .. though I guess when you 'donate' items to the EV.Cloud archive you're moving them there (rather than copying them) therefore you free up space that way?
