Outlook Anywhere Error with EV add-in - Urgent

Hello,

I'm installing EV 9 Outlook add-in in Outlook 2007 and after finnishing the installion wizard I get a pop-up msg with this:

 

I have Outlook configured as follow:

Outlook anywhere with basic auth.

https over rpc

no cached mode

inbox in server, no pst

EV configuration in Desktop Policies:

 

 

 

 

I can recreate this error in my lab with 1xDC, 1xExch2007 all roles, 1xEV 9, 1xWindows XP Office 2007.

What can be wrong or missing?

Error "Enterprise Vault is not available because of your Outlook Configuration" when opening Outlook Anywhere.

Error


" Enterprise Vault is not available because of your Outlook Configuration. Contact your Help Desk for details of how to enable Enterprise Vault with Outlook Anywhere."

Solution



This happens when RPC over HTTP is not configured in Desktop policy on the Enterprise Vault (EV) server. EV buttons would not be visible when this happens.

 

Solution:

1. Open the Enterprise Vault Administration Console
2. Go to Policies > Exchange > Desktop
3. Open the appropriate Desktop policy
4. Go to the Advanced tab
5. Select Outlook in the drop down and configure the following settings:
 
  • RPC over HTTP Restrictions : None
  • RPC over HTTP Proxy URL   : https://webmail.company.com
  • RPC over HTTP connection   : Direct or Use Proxy

For more details on RPC over HTTP configuration on Exchange 2007, please refer the related document:

6. Once the policy is set, synchronize the Mailboxes and then try opening Outlook Anywhere again.

Tony's awesome response is spot on, I think.

 

Along time ago in a far away place, we didn't have the pop-up... it was added for supportability/reliability reasons, the thinking is that the Admin setting this up is likely to see this, and correct it before it goes out to the user community.
