Outlook Problem

I'm using Enterprise Vault 6 and have an issue with archiving large mailboxes.

When a user who has a lot of mail is archived their Outlook slows down to a state where it almost does not respond. This seems to happen just after the backup job for Enterprise Vault completes.

Has anyone else seen this before?

Sure. After EV is backed up the pending archive items are being converted to fully archived (assuming you are using saftey copies in this way). Adjust your archiving and backup windows so that they happen when a user is unlikely to be accessing their mailbox.

I've seen a lot of this in the field. Alan's right, the best time to archive a box is when the user isn't looking. At least for the big initial ingestion of their mail. I've also noticed that EV7.0sp1 does a much better job of not crushing a mailbox on archive run, even during it's inital ingestion. I do recommend upgrading if you can. It seems to be worth it.
